About the services we offer:
Many people are curious about the relationship between Occupational Therapy (OT) and Physical Therapy (PT).
Occupational Therapy:
Primarily focuses on improving a person’s functional abilities so they can perform daily activities safely and efficiently. This can involve adaptive techniques and/or the use of assistive devices to provide the best outcome for the patient. Occupational Therapy can be valuable to patients with difficulty dressing, bathing, cooking and eating. However, Occupational Therapists are not limited to these areas, as they can also help a patient improve their balance, cognition (a mental process that includes thinking), and the ability to function safely in their homes.
Physical Therapy:
Physical Therapy is focused more on treating a persons injury directly or helping to prevent injuries. A Physical therapist will diagnose and treat the physical source of the problem; the injured tissues and structures. Physical Therapists are experts on anatomy and the musculoskeletal system and work in collaboration with your medical doctor to ensure the highest level of recovery is achieved. Physical Therapists are not limited to treating injuries alone. They are capable of treating many other conditions such as impaired balance, difficulty with walking, pain, dementia, stroke, etc.
